宇宙的存在，是要滿足靈魂上愛美的欲望。這是宇宙的終極目標。因為無人能問，也無人能解釋：靈魂為什么要追求美。從最大最深的意義上說，美是宇宙的一種表現。上帝是至美的，真善美三者，只是一個本體的三個方面的表現而已?？墒亲匀唤绲拿啦⒎菬o上法門，它本身并不是充滿圓滿的“善”，它只是為內在的永恒之“美”作先導而已。我們可以把它看作是整體中的一個部分，宇宙另有其根本原因，其表現方式眾多，自然界的美也不是它終極或最高的體現。自然界的美，人類多少都是能夠感受的，有些人不只是感受，還會欣喜無比。此愛美之情，是謂“興趣”。還有些人受之不已，單是欣賞猶有不足。進而創造新的形勢加以展現。此創美之舉，是謂“藝術”。
